It didn’t start with a business plan. It started with Roohi — a cute little cocker spaniel who turned her nose up at everything but homemade food. What began as cooking for one picky eater turned into something bigger: CuddleBuds.
I’ve always had a deep yearning to provide the best for my pets — just like any parent wants to give their child the best of everything. But despite all the love and effort I put in, I could only afford the bare minimum when it came to pet food. My first dog, Jackie, was an indie, and I remember getting a packet of kibbles for him, thinking it would make him happy. Trust me, it was a total failure — he sniffed it, walked away, and I ended up getting an earful from my mom for wasting money! 😂
As time passed, I realized something — I was never going to stop adopting fur babies. And I couldn’t ignore the fact that I was never fully confident that their nutritional needs were being met, whether with home-cooked food or ready-to-serve meals. That constant worry led to the germination of an idea: What if I could create a pet food brand someday?
Then, in 2022, my partner and I welcomed Roohi, our adorable cocker spaniel baby girl, into our home. Now, her cuteness is matched only by her pickiness when it comes to food — and don’t even get me started on her delicate tummy! Any pet parent knows that stress.
So, I started cooking for her, and that’s when I realized something — while I might not be a master chef for humans, my recipes weren’t too bad! Roohi loved them, and soon enough, other dogs belonging to my friends were happily eating the food I made for her. From there, the idea of becoming an entrepreneur took root, and CuddleBuds was born.
